Lakes and Christmas trees

The area where we went on vacation is a regional natural park. There are several lakes (all artificial as far as I can tell) and lots of trees. While there, we learned that many of the Christmas trees in France are grown in the Morvan. As a matter of fact, our land lady was also a Christmas tree farmer.

Anyway, since most of the lakes are flooded river valleys, they tend to be long and without many official beaches. That combined with the cool, rainy weather and the fact that school was back in session while we were on vacation meant that we often had a big stretch of shoreline to ourselves. This made for some nice mini-walks and also allowed us to be brave and let Spencer off-leash. He didn’t run off. He explored a certain distance, but always came back when called (yay!).
